Will You Buy a Car or Rivian's stock, and book sale ends TONIGHT!

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. I know I did as my family was in town.

I know many of you are thinking about things to buy for yourself or others as the year comes to an end. December is considered one of the best times to buy a car, new or used, given that the final days of December see the highest amount of incentive spending.

I want you to also think about investing in a car company. I’ve talked previously about investing in Tesla.

Well, I have been following Rivian (RIVN) ever since it became a public company a few weeks ago. Rivian is the electric-car vehicle company that rivals Tesla. I have a particular affinity to the company after visiting Normal, Illinois, last year, and driving past its assembly plant there. As you may have read in outlets like CNBC, shares of Rivian originally priced at $78 per share, but rose more than 50% when it opened at $106.75 per share. The stock has been on a tear since, and well into the upper $100s over the last week.

It’s noteworthy that when Rivian became public (and even more so now), it had an implied valuation of $91 billion, which surpassed Ford ($77 billion) and on par with General Motors ($86 billion). It’s still worth a fraction of electric vehicle pioneer Tesla, which has a market cap of more than $1 trillion.

About a week after Rivian went public, I saw an email buried in my email from SoFi, a company that I worked for as a brand ambassador years ago. As you can see below, the email asked me if I wanted to participate in the IPO. I was floored because typically, everyday individuals do not have access to participate in IPOs at their IPO price.

Are you invested in any electric vehicle companies?

I’d love to know as the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise as more consumers look to adopt the technology. Also, the latest infrastructure package signed by President Joe Biden outlines billions of dollars delegated to building out a network of EV charging infrastructure. And even if electric vehicles are not appealing to you, what other ways can you invest that take advantage of the billion-dollar infrastructure bill? Talk about these things as a family over the holiday and switch it up a little bit.
